The body pattern was released in four parts, which need to be repeated 3 to 3 1/2 times to acheive desired stole length. I'm doing 3 repeats since I'm a shorty.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBIiR8TpH3zlYZtWw6fQjge5b7sA1qN_JwgA0M9DH8qylEebPJDwcsvr4l77w8Li1MZxlKdtvtoOMhhhP117FQrzlKsjCs3VHFuTQDUKvOZPYHwfj2oz9G4IHFQ4LFNq0A71TcDbzxAYCo/s1600-h/complete+collage.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBIiR8TpH3zlYZtWw6fQjge5b7sA1qN_JwgA0M9DH8qylEebPJDwcsvr4l77w8Li1MZxlKdtvtoOMhhhP117FQrzlKsjCs3VHFuTQDUKvOZPYHwfj2oz9G4IHFQ4LFNq0A71TcDbzxAYCo/s320/complete+collage.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197450661757980130" border="0" /></a>I'm actually almost finished with the final repeat, but since I have a photo of 2 repeats to show, I'm skippin' the whole dry-blocking scenario until I have the first edging repeat done.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLqzK69RPiTTNBR8Qe7jls85-EYUWIsKl4u5P5xQG8-6e0ujK4kuTKZpzCklLxzNOFC_OikiXpGpVLGJ_YA6V1bHdaPYQnUB8p_45tiJfWDcqJ0eDP2QaUChaiQbr05CTUw_N2Xe87H0Ct/s1600-h/SOBN+2nd+repeat+done+sm01.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLqzK69RPiTTNBR8Qe7jls85-EYUWIsKl4u5P5xQG8-6e0ujK4kuTKZpzCklLxzNOFC_OikiXpGpVLGJ_YA6V1bHdaPYQnUB8p_45tiJfWDcqJ0eDP2QaUChaiQbr05CTUw_N2Xe87H0Ct/s320/SOBN+2nd+repeat+done+sm01.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197456210855726626" border="0" /></a><br />A lovely close-up:<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR0UFsLBs_IBGvm4zJbZaSOcc-ai-bqpCSl2ePg_XsY6hBHSh2pb5bUbaTWeH3xykAltLrShOEHUONo3-ZqW6FA_-MtAKXXR7YXbyakkBQjb0NeeLafzm6-3hYzr7yohJ9ZOKTzfqyEzEE/s1600-h/SOBN+2nd+repeat+done+closeup+sm02.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR0UFsLBs_IBGvm4zJbZaSOcc-ai-bqpCSl2ePg_XsY6hBHSh2pb5bUbaTWeH3xykAltLrShOEHUONo3-ZqW6FA_-MtAKXXR7YXbyakkBQjb0NeeLafzm6-3hYzr7yohJ9ZOKTzfqyEzEE/s320/SOBN+2nd+repeat+done+closeup+sm02.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197456206560759314" border="0" /></a>Since Moni's designs have turned me into a KAL <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stepford_Wives_%281975_film%29">Stepford wife</a>, I'm gearing up for the Slow Bee Mystery (<a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/slow-bee-mystery-2/">Slow Bee Mystery 2</a> still open for sign ups, in case you feel compelled to conform).<br /><br />Here's my swatch, blocked on unbleached muslin for your hardly-contrasted viewing pleasure:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1DfWtZpyMFlsSM-ZC7_moEgQ7iFA4BJZJ8PWFzCnUbeoT8wB2nwAxmmX6oTUFqh2sYyvupCVO9pPlzXxj7QR6Biwxt4wd8I-yfzc9oQyDP8b0wugaaT412PabaYMBwG1sDSy5q3wdrZGH/s1600-h/SBM+swatch+5.5.2008+sm01.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1DfWtZpyMFlsSM-ZC7_moEgQ7iFA4BJZJ8PWFzCnUbeoT8wB2nwAxmmX6oTUFqh2sYyvupCVO9pPlzXxj7QR6Biwxt4wd8I-yfzc9oQyDP8b0wugaaT412PabaYMBwG1sDSy5q3wdrZGH/s320/SBM+swatch+5.5.2008+sm01.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197450906571116034" border="0" /></a>Swatch created from these goodies:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaQgtdauKQENhzvewTgJSPoMGKc8D-C5sje_Jk7ISh4SdEfvjMEjsisPAc0LhAPlYXPAF8tcVlUKfrPNWSQ8lYeU6YTcMuCdTQsQvVkRFr1Bf51X-mNvo4AOWxLLLFHmIqUJJBOZam9fpH/s1600-h/KP+Alpaca+Cloud+plus+beads+sm02.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaQgtdauKQENhzvewTgJSPoMGKc8D-C5sje_Jk7ISh4SdEfvjMEjsisPAc0LhAPlYXPAF8tcVlUKfrPNWSQ8lYeU6YTcMuCdTQsQvVkRFr1Bf51X-mNvo4AOWxLLLFHmIqUJJBOZam9fpH/s320/KP+Alpaca+Cloud+plus+beads+sm02.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197450906571116018" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/">Knit Picks</a> <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/alpacacloudlaceyarn_YD5420108.html?">Alpaca Cloud</a> in Horizon (color discontinued, so sorry) with size 8/0 seed beads from <a href="http://www.fusionbeads.com/">Fusion Beads</a> in light Azure AB.Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09751176334957142299noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142863621538920888.post-64792946578236204662008-04-30T23:05:00.008-04:002008-05-06T22:38:07.900-04:00A Mystic(al) FinishI really find it tough to create blog posts while I am also posting progress information on Ravelry. I feel this needs to change. I plan to post at least twice per week all through the month of May. If any of you find I'm not holding up to my pledge, e-mail me (carollpaul AT verizon DOT net [remove the spaces and replace the caps with the symbols]) and give me a hard time. I need to make this a habit. I enjoy writing a bit and I love having an album of my knitting.<br /><br />So, I'm going to catch you up on my <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mysticlightKAL/">Mystic Light KAL</a> progress.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Clue 2</span></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a style="font-weight: bold;" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu-jt_89x3wChAsuOLNxttMLjjNDaEDAm5qHc7vlX2bvtpj1Dz0uylE2vOgFb255C7IcShRqFgd8cHqigsaiobRFO5fjKc0yEtxPBSqNaGlt-r8LrLqq86qZv1E9M_jq6Irbu82og6cjZR/s1600-h/ML+Clue+2+4.3.2008+sm02.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; I went to see Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (the <a href="http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/">Yarn Harlot</a>) in <a href="http://www.aadl.org/">Ann Arbor</a>. So incredible! I met some really <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/ecmstar7587">nice</a> <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/hiliff">knitting</a> <a href="http://knitchickenlegs.wordpress.com/">folks</a> and saw some breathtaking projects (both finished and in-progress).<br /><div><div></div><div>Stephanie was so funny. The comraderie in the room was like nothing I've experienced before. I have participated in groups that gather to knit and/or spin, but she has this ability to make folks feel "together."</div><br /><div>If she comes anywhere near you, <em>run, don't walk</em>, to the event. Bring knitting and food and a camera. That's really all you need (well, the food and camera are optional).</div><br /><div>I only took one photo myself since I was mesmerized by most everything (Stephanie speaking, others' works of art, friendly knitters, etc.).</div><br /><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5188453848523274178" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrvBBARe9QV4-lNEHSRTkepFd-YkqiTMr7-nW7fC6csfjRMTn9mRGysrCa3wzwuvPwNEvhNyY2H1Aai9Rt8Fq7UK18NoXrBlcH3GMKLlkjIEbgFOtIoM1x8K3jc1zkbY4Pi-gAht_UB_hc/s320/Yarn+Harlot+in+Ann+Arbor+4.11.2008+sm01.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>Here's the photo I like the most:</div><br /><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5188453852818241490" style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQV_2eIrdtfBrBw3Bu7mCJFCusn6_9REK06CU_Sh7IZ3o86HzJ_nlflhOJ_lZyTmIigIn-TYBo21m377A-56_NFKv8S5HEYrrifFRJo2k_EkPJFG9yiMV68t1FB71dY8Qe7zfU6OmXj-W7/s320/Yarn+Harlot+in+Ann+Arbor+4.11.2008+sm03.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>That's me holding the current infamous travelling sock and Stephanie holding my finished <a href="http://lulsblog.blogspot.com/search/label/SpringShawlSurprise">Mother Earth Stole</a> (formerly "Spring Shawl Surprise"). I had planned on having her hold my in-progess <a href="http://de.groups.yahoo.com/group/secret-of-bad-nauheim/">Secret of Bad Nauheim</a>, but once she had the Mother Earth in hand, that was it...photo time (there was a super long line behind me and I didn't want to shorten others' time with her). I also have a very short video clip on my camera, since the very kind woman (who is not Rams) who was taking photos accidentally hit the video button while taking the picture. I would post it as a video link from YouTube, but it's boring and very short (lots of shots of the floor). </div><br /><div></div><div>I plan on doing this again for the next book tour. This Knit-a-long kicked off March 1st; the pattern was released at Midnight EST and I was able to download it and cast on right away. I was not, however anywhere near close to winning the gold (or the silver, or the bronze) as the first finisher was done with <strong>BOTH socks</strong> in under <em>9 hours!</em> I did finish in a good time for my own records...March 5th at 2 PM. I included the time it took to weave in the ends (not because I'm that persnickety, but because I didn't look at the clock until I had tried both socks on).<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5174502256003236690" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6D49k9iASeKi1iKYgqcChYuQgqbtX-Y0isutERoGOrHTCRnC-9BGXO6an0cLERiMgRUXfl1fczMRBMLNok2VX6kFbUAja_FVkNoUZSa3D9wr3xTW2QJdul9kFieL39hcLz5rK-Ybd9vBG/s320/Jacobean+Socks+3.5.08+sm1.jpg" border="0" /> I used <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/Gloss+Sock+Yarn_YD5420151.html">Knit Picks Gloss</a> in "Pumpkin" on 2.25mm double pointed needles (2 sets so I could knit both socks at the same time).<br /><br />I promised in my last post a photo of some acquired stash. It was entertaining breakfast chat and my husband mentioned the total disappearance of any sign of the visitor. We both hoped that meant no "ishy" surprises later in the day. I was let down. </div><div><br />Our first meeting was in the shower. The mouse perched atop the showerhead and I did a startle hop as the mouse did a freefall onto the linoleum. I shuddered briefly. Then, as mousie scurried around the bathroom floor, I jumped onto the edge of the tub and screamed until the entire family showed up outside the door to find out what I was shrieking about. I'm not proud of the stereotypical mouse/fear reaction. It happened and I was even laughing at myself while it was happening. I was so afraid that my toes would get bitten. Is that rational? I mean, I'm the big and noisy monster in this scenario, right? </div><div><br />Dave managed to catch the critter and get it outside (where the pic was taken). Well, same as last time. Just the second sole.<br /><br />Why am I putting it off? Because I don't wanna work on clogs, I wanna work on all the lace fun stuff. (lower lip sticking out now, arms crossed and right foot is being stomped)<br /><br />Fun stuff like <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/springshawlsurprice/">this</a>:<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159563429592938914" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2FDoxbVOFQBU-ToNtEECV2IB5xok48ZGpXW3UQ_kaOdGRWkmOY3vnguHwX7e8AAOcoG9TixmQYW-727T8eFeuyKHEUJI042b7JdsNivJd8ClodmAX7_2svAkrYpLZPoZf7qpFt4D8otad/s320/SSS+clue2+plus+text.jpg" border="0" /><br />Plus, Clue 1 for <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dem-fischer-sin-fru/">dem fischer sin fru</a> was posted today. I am itching to get going on this because the yarn is so luscious and the pattern divine, as I ascertained from knitting the swatch:<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159564249931692466" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYMIcm0g6vUdOQMV1EjU8twTmjfkkvSi9CyPHCwJdtbr1sGU1RLcfTiVTIObi-4EfGf9AWBzOU9N8Iq0WoDNpn8RaEZDxJEdOPPLOG0eB1EiUL0dtf5iwAx0IUM3O7w04ALrcAqYi2p0HV/s320/DFsF+swatch+plus+text.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br />I will work on the clogs tonight, though, just because I can't bear the thought of depriving a person of the wondrous toastyness of woolen footwear another moment.<br /><br /><div></div><div>I spent some time frogging a couple different socks last night. I started a plain sock for my husband, but it was a bit loose when I had him try it on, plus I knew I would run out of yarn before completing the toe. I'll restart it as a toe-up sock to avoid that problem. The other pair I really want to do is a pattern from the <a href="http://de.groups.yahoo.com/group/Socken-Kreativ-Liste/">Socken Kreativ Liste</a> called "Pearls" designed by Stephanie van der Linden. It has a beaded cuff. I bought beads, I had dark yarn, I thought I was all set. As I started knitting it, I thought, "Gee, the beads seem a little big, but the yarn will stretch and give the beads room as the sock is worn." Nope, beads too big. I don't know the size of the beads because they were purchased at a superstore and not a bead or craft store. So, maybe something nearer a size 6/0 next. There's always a "next."</div>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09751176334957142299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142863621538920888.post-60339092082599943732008-01-22T21:07:00.000-05:002008-01-25T22:45:19.542-05:00ohhhh, so closeI'm this close (-----) to being finished. Here is what Molly received after waiting four long months:<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157352112459941922" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp5yTegw6Xz15p98owNaQdSYdvcDAzQdeJ3jjAg13_V_g8v2C3Tj7Lw7v4rNGLQJ3zSj70HAcXvQp-_bWaqhYyOgt-aOUj5eJY0nwUbWs8K4ML6wS_yeujKZtQcoWw-AaNrdTd9618Vago/s320/Rhiannon+finished+2.jpg" border="0" /> And here is a snippet of her e-mail to me:<br /><br />"The socks are here! They are perfect!!!! I LOVE them!!!"<br /><br />(Blushing)<br /><br />The truth is, I didn't want to stop knitting them. Between the Knit Picks Essential and the flow of the pattern, I could've turned these into a unitard. (stop a moment to picture a fully cabled unitard)<br /><br />Between <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/">Ravelry</a> and the <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mysticlightKAL/">various</a> <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dem-fischer-sin-fru/">KALs</a> <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/secretofthestole-ii/">I'm</a> <a href="http://de.groups.yahoo.com/group/secret-of-bad-nauheim/">in</a>, I think I will need to live to 150 to actually knit everything I want to knit. Will that work as a "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_of_Youth">fountain of youth</a>" for me?<br /><br />I'll be clog-knitting tomorrow. Progress photos to come. I swear.Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09751176334957142299noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142863621538920888.post-69686072091828252612008-01-16T18:07:00.001-05:002008-01-25T22:47:42.863-05:00Skipping around a bitWell, since I knit and do so many other things, I decided to skip to something else. For sure, felted clogs will be making way too many appearances to make folks feel comfortable.<br /><br />I've joined yet another KAL: <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mysticlightKAL/">Mystic Light</a><br /><br />I've begun on <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/springshawlsurprice/">Spring Shawl Surprice</a>.<br /><br />And I've begun including photos of my pets. As I was photographing my yarn to upload to <a href="http://www.flickr.com/">Flickr</a>, so I could then upload to <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/">Ravelry</a>, a kitty decided I needed a new element in my shot.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjImq2deDliGdNgWWqQS5kdgvguuWMdKdpGe23vIyddA-tjH6ULYsKzaqZOW-k1q-WEuFL6dSRMDjtGcKRwbBf5yT8i4FHfeJP3sCMvTUDdjUH0tUKtE6hlJ0W3QgPeBx9W4EnfXXCV07Ef/s1600-h/Kitty+and+STR+Minestone.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5156218962648303554" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: pointer; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjImq2deDliGdNgWWqQS5kdgvguuWMdKdpGe23vIyddA-tjH6ULYsKzaqZOW-k1q-WEuFL6dSRMDjtGcKRwbBf5yT8i4FHfeJP3sCMvTUDdjUH0tUKtE6hlJ0W3QgPeBx9W4EnfXXCV07Ef/s320/Kitty+and+STR+Minestone.jpg" border="0" /></a>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09751176334957142299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4142863621538920888.post-81125265926040090662008-01-03T18:25:00.000-05:002008-01-25T22:48:28.599-05:00So it begins...I mouthed off at a New Year's Eve party, "Hey, I'm gonna make felted clogs for a bunch of people and blog about it." At the end of <em>this year</em> the plan is sobriety and staying home. I wonder if I'll make it?<br /><br /><br />Tonight I start my first pair for the blog. They will be sent to Denmark to a son's friend. I'm using the <a href="http://www.fibertrends.com/">Fiber Trends</a> Felted Clog pattern and <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/">Knit Picks</a> Wool of the Andes in the Winter Night color.<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5151403995071842194" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdzQTqVYHSRjuDHKjHbIQ-QX6p1kOaHOOn-_kKOKoScPBVnusZQpVZ6DTpxZkdtX8Xh2CRzd9SAj2nfE4z_k5KWzHIq3IWj-peq2xUnYDHj7Ck6jNlEHpjLLL9H0x2xh9NgBcDVJ48B9A-/s320/blog+yarn+001.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><p></p><p>Is all hope lost? Will I ever knit anything else ever again?</p>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09751176334957142299noreply@blogger.com1
